Monitor Performance With A Contract Management Plan
In any good contract management plan there should be all the key information that will be needed in relation to how each contract that has been agreed upon will be managed. It is through this plan that a person or business will be able to establish a set of systems and processes to ensure that the person they have contracted will comply with the terms and conditions during the time that they are carrying out the works specified within the contract itself.
It is this plan which will enable the manager of the contract to develop a better understanding of what the contract is and the various responsibilities that each party to the agreement has.
Also this plan allows them to establish a way in which they monitor the performance of all those involved within the agreement and help them to identify any problems before they occur or when they do in fact occur.
However not always is a contract management plan on a formal basis always required but it is recommended that such ones are put into place when large sums of money are involved. Or when the work is full of very complex technical issues or if a person is required to be responsible for any number of contracts at any one time.
All contract management plans should be developed during the stages when a business is actually trying to obtain the contract initially. Then as things begin to move on from the first stage of being asked to bid for the contract through to the final stages when the contract has been awarded then the business should be developing their plan at the same time.
When it comes to producing such a plan there are a number of things that a business will need to take into consideration and these are as follows:-
1. Who is going to actually manage the contract once it has been awarded to the business? 2. How is the contractor’s performance actually going to be monitored during the term of the contract? 3. What kinds of risks are there associated with a particular contract and just how these risks going to be managed? 4. What kind of requirements are going to be put in place for the contractor to report to those who have awarded them the contract?
Just what is actually included within any kind of contract management plan will depend on the nature of the contract. In most cases when it comes to devising such plans most of the information that you will need can be found in the contract itself. These plans will often be developed by the contract manager of the business that has awarded the contract and will be involved in all aspects of the contract from its planning stages right through to its inception.
